We’ve rolled out a range of updates to make IndyForms more flexible for real-world workflows, more reliable for teams, and easier to manage at scale.
Below is a summary of what’s new, what’s improved, and what’s coming next.
🚀 What’s New
Submittable sections
Sections can now be marked as submittable, allowing teams to complete and submit parts of a form independently.
This is useful for:
multi-step workflows
shared forms completed by multiple people
triggering notifications when a section is ready
Email PDF to submitter
Forms can now automatically email a PDF copy to the person who submits it — helping with confirmations, record keeping, and audit requirements.
Webhooks
You can now trigger webhooks when:
a record is created
a record is submitted
This makes it easier to integrate IndyForms with external systems and automation tools.
Public API v2
A new version of the Public API is now available, with cleaner and more consistent JSON responses, making integrations easier to build and maintain.
Form width options
You can now control how your forms display using:
Normal
Wide
Full-width
This is especially useful for longer or more complex forms.
Default groups
Admins can now:
assign new users to a default group
ensure new forms automatically include the correct group access
This reduces manual setup and keeps access consistent.
Safer dataset deletion
Datasets now follow a safer lifecycle:
deleted datasets move to Trash
datasets can be restored
unused datasets can be permanently deleted
✨ What’s Improved
Cleaner public form behaviour
Public forms no longer create empty records just from page visits.
Records now only appear once someone starts entering data.
Better data quality controls
Text fields can enforce a minimum character count
Address fields can default to your tenant’s country
Faster, clearer user experience
Faster document upload previews
Clearer disabled field styling
Improved AI file upload clarity
Easier workflow management
Generation rules can be paused
Schedules can be edited directly from the Records list
Stability and reliability
A large number of behind-the-scenes improvements have been made:
form reliability (including complex tables)
record accuracy and timestamps
Designer consistency and predictability
Address field enhancements
The address field can now have details like country and state pre-populated in the Form Builder (Designer).
Phone number field improvements
The phone number field now allows selecting a country prefix when entering the number.
🔜 What’s Next (Product Roadmap)
Improved Public Forms
We’re currently working on improvements to Public Forms, including:
Pre-filled public forms
Pre-populate fields to make forms easier to reuse and personalise.
Easier sharing
Improved options for sharing public forms across different channels.
These updates are designed to make public form workflows faster, more flexible, and easier to manage.
Embeddable Forms
We’re also working on Embeddable Forms, allowing forms to be embedded directly into external websites and applications.
This will make it easier to:
capture submissions directly from your website
create smoother public-facing workflows
reduce friction for end users
Automatic record numbering
Forms will support automatic record numbering, with custom prefixes and formats (for example, REQ-0001).
This makes records easier to reference in reports, emails, and audits.
