Resize an Image Using “Auto”

Updated this week

If an image in the Rich Text editor appears too large or doesn’t display correctly, you can set the width and height to Auto so the image adjusts automatically.

How to resize an image

  1. Open the Rich Text editor in the Form Builder.

  2. Click the image you want to resize.

  3. Click the ruler icon (Change Size) in the toolbar.

  4. In the Width field, enter auto.

  5. In the Height field, enter auto.

  6. Click Update.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q. Why should I use auto for width and height?

Setting width and height to auto allows the image to scale automatically based on the available space. This helps the image display properly across different screen sizes and devices.

Q. My image still looks too large. What should I do?

Try setting the Width to 100vw. This will make the image span the full width of the screen.

Q. Can I use a fixed width instead of auto?

Yes. You can enter a specific value (for example, 500px) to keep the image at a fixed size.

Q. Will resizing affect the original image file?

No. Changing the width or height in the editor only affects how the image displays in the form. The original image file is not modified.

💡 Tips

  • Use high-resolution images so they remain clear when resized.

  • Use auto when unsure of the ideal size. This lets the editor adjust the image automatically.

  • Preview your form after resizing to ensure the image displays correctly on different screen sizes.

  • If the image looks stretched, make sure both width and height are set to auto so the proportions remain correct.
