Overview
The Currency Field is a form input for recording a monetary amount as data on a record — for example a quoted price, a budgeted line item, or an invoiced fee. It stores a decimal number and associates it with a currency you choose (e.g. AUD, USD), so the value displays and calculates correctly wherever it's used.
It does not move money. Entering a value in a Currency Field does not charge or collect a payment from anyone — it simply records a figure. If you need the form to actually collect a payment, use the Payment Field instead.
Formatting and decimal behaviour
Decimals are always fixed to 2 places. Whatever you type, the Currency Field rounds the value to two decimal places as soon as you move out of the field. This happens automatically and can't be changed per field. For example:
You type | Field stores/shows |

There's no separate "allow decimals" toggle on this field type unlike the Number Field, decimals are always permitted, and the precision is always capped at 2 places.
Currency selection is a label, not a converter. The Currency dropdown lets you pick from the full list of world currencies. This tells IndyForms which currency the number represents so it displays and calculates correctly in documents, formulas and exports. It does not convert amounts between currencies, and it does not restrict which currencies are available (the full ISO list is always offered, regardless of your organisation's billing setup).
Minimum and Maximum are optional validation bounds — if set, the respondent can't submit a value outside that range.
Other settings available: Input Required, Show Time Entered, Show User Last Edited, and Formulas (to calculate the value from other fields on the form).
Currency Field vs Number Field vs Payment Field
Currency, Number, and Payment fields all accept numeric input, but they're built for different jobs. The Number Field stores a plain numeric value with no currency attached — it's whole numbers by default, or up to 4 decimal places if "Allow Decimal Precision" is turned on. The Payment Field is the only one that moves money: it's tied to the Merchant Centre and actually charges the respondent when the form is submitted, with its currency options limited to whatever your organisation has enabled for billing.
