Sharing Information with the Rich Text Field

Use the Rich Text field to share instructions, notes, and important information with your form respondents.

What Is the Rich Text Field?

The Rich Text field is a design element β€” not an input field. It does not collect responses. Instead, it lets you embed formatted content directly into your form so respondents have the context they need to complete it accurately.

Think of it as your space to communicate: set expectations, share policies, provide links, or embed media β€” all without leaving the form.

What You Can Share with Rich Text

Rich Text supports a wide range of content types:

Content Type

What to Include

πŸ“‹ Instructions

Step-by-step guidance to help respondents complete each section correctly.

⚠️ Reminders & Policies

Important rules, disclaimers, or compliance notices respondents must acknowledge.

πŸ”— Links & References

Links to external websites, company documents, or support resources.

πŸ“· Media Content

Embedded images, tables, or training videos displayed directly inside the form.

How to Add a Rich Text Field

  1. In the Form Builder, open the Fields panel.

  2. Under Design Elements, drag the Rich Text field into your form.

  3. Click into the editor and add your content.

The built-in editor supports text formatting, lists, colour changes, hyperlinks, images, tables, and video embeds β€” giving you full control over how information is presented.

πŸ’‘ IndyTip: Rich Text fields are read-only for respondents. They cannot type into a Rich Text field. To collect input, use response fields such as Text, Numeric Value, or Date.

Example Use Cases

  • πŸ‘‹ Add a welcome note at the top of a form.

  • πŸ“ Insert instructions for staff completing a checklist.

  • πŸ”— Link to a website for further learning materials.

  • πŸŽ₯ Embed a training video in an onboarding form.

  • ✍️ Add your signature so you don’t have to sign every form.
