Is this the right guide for you?
Use this guide if you need to permanently remove an organisation from IndyForms — for example, if it was created by mistake or is no longer needed.
If you're not sure deletion is the right choice, consider these alternatives first:
Archive or disable individual forms instead of deleting the whole organisation
Transfer ownership if another admin should manage it going forward
Contact support at [email protected] if you need guidance before proceeding
Only users with an Administrator licence can delete an organisation. If you do not see the delete option, check your account role in Settings.
⚠️ Warning: Deleting an organisation is permanent. All forms, records, documents, and responses are immediately removed and cannot be recovered — unless you contact support quickly after deletion. |
Before you delete: Pre-deletion checklist
Work through this checklist before starting. Once you delete, there is no undo button.
I no longer need the forms, records, or documents in this organisation
I have downloaded or exported any data I want to keep
I have confirmed there are no active public forms still needed
I have checked with other admins or users who may rely on this organisation
I have confirmed I am deleting the correct organisation
💡IndyTip: If any of the above are uncertain, contact support before proceeding. It's much easier to help before deletion than after.
Step-by-step: How to delete an organisation
1. Open your Account Settings
Log in to IndyForms, then select your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the screen.
Click View Account from the dropdown menu.
2. Navigate to the Details tab
Inside Account Settings, make sure you are on the Details tab.
Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the Delete Organisation section.
3. Read the warning and click Yes
A disclaimer will appear explaining what will be permanently deleted. Read it carefully.
Click Yes to confirm you want to proceed. This step cannot be undone.
4. Type the confirmation phrase and click Delete
You'll be prompted to type a confirmation phrase — for example: Delete [Your Organisation Name].
Type it exactly as shown, then click Delete to finalise.
This step is intentional — it makes sure you are certain and prevents accidental deletions.
5. Done — Organisation deleted
Once confirmed, the organisation is immediately removed. You will see a success confirmation on screen.
The organisation will no longer appear in your organisation switcher or search results. Any public forms linked to it will stop working immediately.
⚠️ Warning: Deleted an organisation by accident?
Contact our Support Team as soon as possible at [email protected] — the sooner you reach out, the better the chance of recovery. Do not create a new organisation or make other changes while waiting for a response.
